What is a Producer?
Job description
KB Designs is looking for an energetic and driven sales representative to join our team. This is an inside sales position at a start-up in our 2nd year of business and we are exploding with work! It's amazing how easy it is to sell quality built websites in this area. Web Design is in high demand and there aren't many businesses in the area that offer quality web design and marketing solutions. Low competition and competitive pricing make for high closing percentages!
So what is KB Designs? Simply put we are a marketing company. Web Design is the hook to get small businesses in the door. We offer quality websites at a price that small business owners can afford. That's just the start of our relationship with our clients, though. Once they are onboard we offer them ongoing web servicing, graphic designs, market analysis and marketing tips and tricks to help them grow their businesses. We are a full service marketing agency that specializes in the growth of small businesses.
What are we looking to get from you? Lots and lots of sales! Not just for us, but for our clients as well. It would be your job as a "Producer" to find new prospects through effective prospecting/marketing strategies and turn those prospects into clients. Some leads may be provided but to be truly successful in this position you will need to be good at prospecting. Our perfect candidate would also review website analytics for our clients and provide them with sound advice as to how to increase their site traffic, foot traffic and overall sales. Providing sales and marketing consultations for businesses that span a wide range of industries will be a big part of this job. You will also need to be able to process payments and manage service requests. On-going training will be required for this position. I will provide this training in the form of videos, books, audio books, and seminars. Training will be assigned and discussed in monthly and weekly meetings.
Who are we looking for?
-
Someone that is driven and wants to work for a company that is going places fast!
-
Upbeat positive attitude. Negativity is like cancer in a sales environment. No one likes cancer... don't be cancer.
-
Strong goal oriented personality.
-
Someone that wants to have fun at work while still achieving their goals.
-
Ability to handle rejection. You're going to hear "no" a lot in this position.
-
Can sit at a desk for long periods of time.
-
Someone that possesses the ability to be on the phone for long periods of time.
-
Previous sales experience is a plus but not required. I am willing to train the right candidate if you posses a "winning attitude" and a strong desire to join the team.
-
You will need to be "tech savvy." You should be able to intuitively trouble shoot software programs. Training will be provided but a knowledge of tech will be helpful.
-
You will need to be able to critique people's website without insulting them so you should be good with people and know how to navigate difficult conversations.
-
You will need to be comfortable asking for money. Websites aren't cheep and neither are the marketing services that grow businesses. KB Designs is priced to be affordable for small businesses but it's still a big ask for a lot of people.
-
Team player. This company is run like one big team. Just like a football team has an offense and a defense, KB Designs has Producers and Designers. Each are equally important if we want to be successful in "The Infinite Game."
So, what's the compensation?
1st 90 Days
(A.K.A. "The Training Grounds")
Part Time or Full Time
-
This will be considered the “trial period” for both of us. This will give the producer and the owner time to make sure things are a good fit.
-
The 1st 30 days is a grace period. After the 1st 30 days you will need to sell 4 websites and 1 social media contract a month. Missing quota in a month is a write-up. Two consecutive months of missing quota will result in termination. Selling 4 websites and 1 social media contract a month is EASY!
Compensation
-
20% commission on website sales, social media contracts and website upgrades.
Work Hours
-
Only 15 hours a week will be required in the 1st 90 days (how nice of me). I'm fully aware that asking someone to prioritize a part time commission only job is a big ask so I'm only asking for 15 hours a week. You can pick the days and the hours as long as they are sometime between 9am - 6pm Monday - Friday. You will need to submit your schedule for approval at least a week in advance. My hope is that you are able to fit this in with your busy schedule (which one of us isn't busy?) and shift your schedule as needed so KB Designs isn't a burden on your life, but rather a blessing.
-
Work as many hours as you want. I only require 15 hours a week in the 1st 90 days to maintain your position with KB Designs. If you have more time and want to work more, you're always welcome. Since this is commission only, you are the one in control of the size of your paycheck in the 1st 90 days more than I am.
Bonus
-
I'm a HUGE believer in bonus! I plan on making bonus opportunities available as long as I own the company. It's the best way to motivate staff in the direction the company needs to move.
-
In the 1st 90 days your bonus is all about becoming full time. I need full time Producers so since 4 websites per month and 1 social media contract per month is quota, I will promote you to "Level 1 Producer" as soon as you sell 12 websites and 3 social media contracts. This is something that can be done in much less than 90 days.
After 90 Days
-
At the end of your 1st 90 days or after you sell 12 websites and 3 social media contracts we will review your work together and make a determination of how we should move forward.
-
If we both feel this is a good fit, you want to work full time and your work performance is to the standards that I have set, you will be promoted to "Level 1 Producer."
-
If at the end of the 1st 90 days you decide that you really like the flexibility of the schedule and the commission only nature of the job, you may be given the option to continue depending on company staffing needs. I strive to make KB Designs a place that people want to work at and I understand that willingness to be flexible with people's personal lives is key to creating a stress free work environment.
-
If at the end of 90 days either of us think this isn't a good fit, we'll say our goodbyes and wish each other the best of luck.
Level 1 Producer
Job description
At KB Designs we're a little nerdy. We're techy people so I figured why not lean into it. I used the concept of "The Infinite Game" to create our bonus structure. Level 1 Producer is where every producer starts after making it out of the training grounds. This is a full time salaried position with commission, bonus and benefits.
As a level 1 producer you will still be responsible for the same quota as you were in the training grounds. You will also be responsible for creating reports for our clients. This is when you start putting your sales and marketing skills to work for our clients. You will need to be able to look at website traffic and social media traffic to put together a comprehensive report of how much traffic the clients site is getting, where the traffic is coming from and give recommendations as to how they can increase traffic/sales.
At times you will also sit down with clients and put together comprehensive marketing plans for the course of a long period of time (usually 6 months to a year). You will need to be able to recommend marketing strategies and marketing materials that we can provide to them to grow their business. You will work in coordination with the design team to bring the collective vision to life and cause real change in businesses. You may also be required to assist with social media posting.
Compensation
$3,000 Per Month Salary
-
Since you will be responsible for reports and developing marketing plans for clients on top of selling, you will be given a base pay. I don't want Producers that "work for base." The base pay is there to help create stability in your life and to reduce the stress that can come from a sales job.
-
You are still responsible for the same quota as when in the training grounds. At the end of the day, this is a sales job and your primary responsibility is production. Finding the balance between sales activity and service activity is going to be key as well as understanding how to blend the two together.
Commission
-
10% commission on website sales, social media contracts and website upgrades.
Bonus (General Rules)
-
Bonus as a Level 1 Producer is calculated on a point system. Producers and Designers both collect Bonus Points for completing quests. Yes I said quests. We don't have task lists at KB Designs, we have quest logs. Like I said, I'm a total nerd and I'm just gonna go ahead and lean right on into it. :D
-
The points you and other team members collect go towards unlocking different bonusses.
Monthly Bonus
-
Monthly bonus is paid out once per month and is based on team production goals and individual goals.
-
There are 3 levels to this bonus. Each level gives you a higher percentage of total monthly sales from website packages and service contracts, divided evenly amongst qualifying staff. That means you make more money the more you are able to accomplish with as few people on staff as possible. The less people on staff, the fewer people there will be to split monthly bonuses with.
-
More details about this bonus will be given after you are on the team.
Gold Star Bonus
-
Each month this bonus is unlocked once the team reaches a certain amount of bonus points.
-
Once "unlocked" random Gold Star Bonusses will appear that you will have to "catch." These will be bonusses made available for individuals to earn aside from the monthly team bonus.
-
Examples of potential Gold Star Bonusses would be visa gift cards, dinner for two on us, nice bottles of wine (for those of age), tickets to sporting games and the like.
-
Potential examples of things required to "catch a Gold Star" are the most sales in a week, the most points collected in a week, most google reviews collected, reach a certain level of points and "win" (this allows for multiple winners), etc.
-
These bonusses make it easier for me to "steer the ship" so to speak. I believe strongly in rewarding people for doing good work that leads to growth in the areas of the company that matter. Gold Star Bonus is how I accomplish that.
Work Hours
-
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with an hour lunch break.
-
You will have 1 "half day" each week. You can choose to work the 1st half of the day or the 2nd half of the day.
-
The half day is there to help you with scheduling things mid week without having to dip into PTO.
-
This half day doesn't need to be taken but is there if you need/want it.
-
You will need to make sure I know which day you are taking for your half day in advance. This can be done easily with the Google calendar.
Paid Time Off
-
136 hours (17 eight hour days) paid time off fully earned once achieving Level 1 Producer. The 136 hours is intended to be used as 14 days paid vacation and 3 days paid sick leave but can be used as you see fit.
-
PTO that is being used for vacation time needs to be approved at least 2 business days in advance.
-
PTO used for sick leave doesn't need to be pre-approved. If more than 24 hours (3 days) of sick leave is taken without notice and preapproval a doctors note will be required to avoid disciplinary action.
Health Benefits
-
Because KB Designs is a start up in it's 2nd year of business I can't promise health benefits.
-
What I can say is that I intend to have health insurance available for all full time employees before the end of 2025.
-
Your efforts as a producer will go a long way to helping make health benefits available for everyone.
